In February every year, as part of the Black History Month Celebration, the Heritage Africa Music Festival is held in Ghana under the auspices of the national commission on culture.
Located on the West coast of Africa is one the most beautiful and culturally exciting countries on the continent. Ghana is historically important to Americans in that it was the major exporting country of slaves during the 19th century.
As such, many African-Americans throughout the United States can trace their ancestry back to the gold coast of Ghana.
The National Commission on Culture of Ghana is hosting the African Choral Music Festival in Ghana's capital city, Accra. American, African, European and fourteen Caribbean choirs have been invited to share their music and discover the rich cultural heritage of West Africa.
Guest choirs will be welcome by the President of Ghana at the official opening ceremony and over the next four days, will have opportunities to perform concerts in churches, universities and theaters to local audiences.
The African Choral Music Festival is an exciting venue for choirs all over the world to share both their music and culture with Ghanaians.
